Living life

{continuing to update with recent pictures…I’ve done something with the battery charger for my SLR, so the all of the photos taken in this post (with the exception of the photo of Josh and Kylie) were taken with my cell phone. That’s why they look a little unusual. :) }

It’s rather interesting. Looking towards this year from last year, I figured this year would be a more quiet year. I would never have imagined all of the things we would be doing, nor all of the events that have taken place thus far.

The most recent piece of news is that my brother, Josh, is courting a neighbor of ours and a dear friend of mine, Kylie. It has been incredible to see all the ways the Lord has worked already thus far through this process. Kylie and her family are truly like family to us. We are all excited to see where the Lord leads! =]

In the meantime, our normal life activities roll on. =]

We’re continuing to attend art class on Friday afternoons. Our art teacher, Mr Elam, has been teaching me to paint in watercolours. As I’ve shared before, watercolour painting holds a special place in my heart, and it has been a blessing to learn how to use them properly.

This is my most recent project:

I love these cute little snowmen. They have definitely made a great prop to practice my watercolour skills!

Of course, as life gets more full, the coffee mug does too, so this has been my mug of choice over the past couple of weeks:

no, it’s not completely full… =]

While we’re on the coffee subject, Sinatra, our Tahoe, has been in the shop for the past couple of weeks, so I’ve been driving the Snow Beast quite a bit more. In celebration of my first time to drive the Snow Beast on the interstate, I stopped for a coffee at Pilot. You know, celebration coffee.

And then there’s been music practice. Lots and lots of music practice! We were a bit concerned about the dust from the drywall getting inside of the piano and damaging it, so we moved the piano down to our new resource closet until the new family room is finished. Now I have a dedicated music room! 😉

I’ve been trying to be more diligent to practice violin this week as well. That’s always a lot of fun!

We’ve definitely enjoyed having the windows open over the past few days during the current “heat wave” we’re experiencing. =]

For personal goals, I’m working on finishing two books I started last year, All Things Bright and Beautiful by James Herriot and The Holiness of God by R.C. Sproul. Both books have been really good, and it has been wonderful to catch up on some of the reading goals I completely missed last year!

I’ve got my Goodreads goal counter set back up for this year, so hopefully, the Lord willing, there will be progress made on that over the coming months.

Another new thing this year has been blogging for Meditations of His Love with the rest of the MOHL team! It has been a lot of fun to get to know the other gals, and I’m praying that the posts written over there by all of us are an encouragement to our readers. It has definitely been a learning experience for me, and a great exercise in keeping a regular writing schedule. =]

With our new activities, my veterinary scheduling job, and church work, I was having a hard time keeping track of what all needed to be done on specific days to keep up with my commitments. Mama found this great wipe-off board while she was out shopping one day, and it has proved itself to be incredibly valuable thus far! It has been so nice to see at a glance what all needs to be done each week. The calendar below the wipe-off board was given to us by the oral surgeon who did my wisdom teeth removal, and it has a more general glance of everything that needs to be done during the month.

Last, but certainly not least, I went out to do my run this morning and saw that our daffodils are blooming. I love daffodils. <3

And with that dear reader, I’ll close for now. I pray you have a blessed evening!

I would love to hear from you! =]
